For a decade plus, XXL’s Freshman cover significantly provided visibility for upcoming artists on the cusp of stardom. We’ve watched the likes of J.Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Big Sean, Future, and more gain momentum and notoriety after watching their faces plastered on the prestigious magazine cover. Despite having a multitude of stars bless the cover over the years, several artists have been declining the magazine’s invite. While some have been able to shine without the spotlight offered by the reputable publication, others are now regretting their decision to skip out on the once in a lifetime opportunity.
