Foxy Brown was supposed to be the equivalent of Lil Kim back in the 90’s, and at one point, she was at that level. Her and the Queen Bee were going at it on tracks, competing heavily with their rhymes and flows. She was featured on tons of tracks as the only female on the song, carrying the weight with huge success. Despite her skillful bar game, Foxy’s career burnt out quickly by the 2000’s, leading her to run into a fair amount of legal trouble outside of music. Since then, she still hasn’t proved to be a long-lasting female MC in the game, despite her lengthy list of hit records and features. Lil Kim may be in the running for beating the short-living female MC curse, but some would also argue Nicki Minaj. Either way, hip hop still needs the ladies to step up their longevity skills.
