Murder Inc was an indomitable force in the 2000’s. Irv Gotti was a musical savant because of his ability to create hit after hit. He created the formula, internalized it, and ran with it as his artists, Ja Rule, Ashanti, and Lloyd became fixtures on the hip hop and R&B scene. Now, even though Murder Inc crumbled because of various crimes and allegations, they will always be remembered as the “It” team in the 2000’s. Ja Rule spearheaded the Murder Inc movement. His ability to intertwine singing into his raps helped him solidify himself as a mainstream threat. With four muli-platinum albums under his belt, Ja was the driver behind of train of success that was Murder Inc. Sadly, 50 Cent’s crushing blow to his career derailed him from his path.
Ja Rule: Today
Now, Ja Rule is focusing his attention on his family. After serving a bid in jail for two years, he released a book titled Unruly, launched a reality show about his family life called Follow the Rules, and will drop his album Genius Loves Company, this year.
