Hip-Hop and the Grammys may have a roller coaster relationship, but for every snub and misrepresentation of culture the academy does get a few things right. In 1989, the Grammys awarded Best Rap Performance for the first time, but decided to not air the presentation. Many hip-hop figures felt slighted and boycotted the event.

Tupac Shakur and Kiss presenting Best Pop Song is definitely a moment in it’s own. This was also Pac’s last ever public appearance.
