Over the weekend, SZA headlined Friday night’s set at BUKU Music + Art Project in New Orleans. The crowd went cray as the big-haired singer hopped onstage and began performing “Supermodel.” But fans soon realized something was off — she was struggling through her singing.
“I’m sorry,” she said to the crowd. “I have really bad asthma and I can’t breathe.” Despite her struggle, SZA inhaled two asthma pumps and continued putting on a show as fans cheered her on. She performed a slew of fan faves like, “Broken Clocks,” “Drew Barrymore, “and “Normal Girl.” But it was when she performed “Love Galore” that things took a turn for the worst.
SZA must’ve felt better because she belted out the song with no problem. When it was time for Travis Scott’s part, she let the crowd sing along while she danced and did high kicks. That’s when she jumped off to the side and, out of nowhere, dropped to the ground.

At first, fans didn’t realize what happened. It was when the stage crew frantically ran over to her and signaled for help that everyone noticed. The band, stunned, continued playing the melody to “Love Galore” until all of the lights went out. The show was over.
Fans suspected SZA had an asthma attack because she kept complaining about her breathing — but that wasn’t the case. Hours later, SZA took to Twitter and posted a photo of her ankle in a brace, revealing that she injured it. She tweeted an apology to fans and promised to make it up.
“ummm my ankles r worthless lmao Sorry Buku! 😩We was finna hit tha weekend n allat! 😫promise I come back n do it right !!! Love u thank u for having me!! 💜🙏🏾 #NOLA”
