Virginia production duo Timbaland and Missy were looking for someone to promote their new and innovative sound and Aaliyah was the perfect muse for the job. In 1996, Aaliyah’s classic hit “One In A Million” off her sophomore album with the same title propelled the singer into super stardom.

Although she was involved in the industry long before 1997, Missy Elliott exploded onto the scene in 1997 with her debut album Supa Dupa Fly and followed with the release of her classic and innovative video for the title track shortly after. “Beep! Beep! Who got the keys to the jeep?!” is still one of Missy’s most famous lines.
