Netflix’s ‘The Get Down’ Proves That We Need To Acknowledge The Pioneer Hip Hop Era

Netflix has been going hard with a lot of new original series lately, and this time around, they’re stepping into hip hop culture. The streaming service is releasing a brand new series sometime this year called The Get Down, which follows the story of how hip hop came to formation as a genre and culture back in the 1970’s. With the popularity of nostalgic hip hop movies and shows, such as the recent The Breaks on VH1, this time around we’ll see tons of action, dancing, and music that take us back to the beginning era that isn’t touched upon as much.
