Hate her or love her, Iggy Azalea is making history this year as an emerging rapper and a force in the music industry. At last night’s American Music Awards, Iggy walked away with the “Favorite album – rap/ hip-hop” and “Favorite artist – rap/ hip-hop” awards. This was big for the Australian rapper considering she beat out hip-hop powerhouses Drake and Eminem in both categories. Following last night’s AMA’s, people are questioning Iggy’s success even more wondering if she deserves it all. Iggy Azalea has taken a lot of backlash this year from the media as well as her fellow rappers including Nicki Minaj, Snoop Dogg and more recently Eminem. Although many people have had something negative to say about her, the numbers don’t lie. Iggy Azalea is proving the critics wrong. Whether she is modeling in the latest fashions with her L.A. Iggy Azalea vs. Nicki Minaj
All of the Iggy Azalea mayhem seems to have started in July. It was announced that the rapper made history on the Billboard Hot 100 chart having the longest-leading number one song for a female rapper with her song “Fancy.”
Shortly after, Nicki Minaj would go on stage at the 2014 Bet Awards and denounce rappers that don’t write their own rhymes. Fans immediately assumed she was referring to Iggy Azalea who was watching from the audience.
