When you’re arguably one of the most powerful men in the music industry, a lot of people are going to try to squeeze money out of your pockets. On numerous occasions, JAY Z has found himself embroiled in a number of lawsuits ranging from his “Big Pimpin'” record, to even R.Kelly demanding $75 million dollars from him. Now, it appears that Jigga has more things to worry about on his plate.
If you recall, in 2014, JAY Z launched his new fragrance Gold JAY Z and it was very successful. But considering sales plummeted from $35 million to $6.1 million, Perfumania Holdings Inc has decided to sue Jay Z for his lack of involvement in promoting his cologne.
The whopping figure that Perfumania is asking for will certainly make you do a double take.
Despite collecting over $2 million dollars in royalties, Jay hasn’t returned any favors to the company by skipping all of his celebrity appearances. In addition to the $2 million, they also want another $16 million back in damages. So in total, they are seeking $18 million dollars from him for his miscues.
The suit explains how Jay Z turned down various promotion opportunities including an appearance on Good Morning America, a cover story of Women’s Daily Wear, and an event at Macy’s to promote his fragrance.
