Berg got caught while getting caught
Yung Berg’s legal history is so convoluted that he’s getting caught while getting caught. According to TMZ, the Love & Hip Hop star was caught in Miami with a negligible amount of weed. That wouldn’t have been a big problem, but the police found out that Berg had a nine-year-old warrant related to another drug charge. So, Berg was promptly taken to jail.
TMZ has the details:
“Berg was in Miami in October for the BET awards, when cops were called to the hotel where he was staying after a woman claimed he unwantedly wrapped his arms around her. There was some sort of altercation in the hallway where one of Berg’s friends allegedly put hands on her…Cops ran his record and found he blew off a court date for another pot bust 9 years ago, so they hauled him off to jail.”
The gossip website also said that Berg has been released.
Aside from being all the way caught up, Berg has been busy. He recently changed his name to Hitmaka as a way to possibly switch up his fortunes.
Previously, the rapper was perhaps best known for beefing with Bow Wow. The actor and rapper went back and forth on Instagram last year after Berg clowned Bow Wow for not releasing new music.
Bow Wow responded by posting a video of Berg getting beat up.
“Got slapped by a surf boarder and aint DO NOTHING!!!!” he captioned the video. “You been softer than medicated cotton from jump TURD. (this too easy ima chill yall i promise) getting ran off the block.”
Bow Wow also implied that he had an altercation with Berg that didn’t end well.
“Stop playing with us little boy,” Bow Wow commented on Instagram. “You saw what happened in Vegas when we hopped out on you. Trick I guess he aint learn from Detroit. Maino slapped the life out you, now watch when the fruitz get you.”
Sadly, that’s not the first time that the pair has gone back and forth. Berg called out Bow Wow on The Breakfast Club last year.
“Bow Wow is a sucker. He be pillow talking,” said Berg. “[Superhead] told me one day, ‘This dude Bow is so lame. He told me I shouldn’t be having sex with you. I should only have sex with Lil Wayne or him or people of that stature.’”
Berg is only the most recent rapper to go down for an ancient drug charge. Meek Mill was recently sent back to prison after a judge ruled that he violated the terms of his probation on a drug charge he received nearly a decade ago. The news drew widespread outrage and prompted a conversation about the probationary system in the United States. Jay-Z wrote a passionate op-ed in the New York Times that called for an end to probation as we now know it.
“It’s time we highlight the random ways people trapped in the criminal justice system are punished every day,” he wrote. “The system treats them as a danger to society, consistently monitors and follows them for any minor infraction — with the goal of putting them back in prison.”
“Probation is a trap and we must fight for Meek and everyone else unjustly sent to prison,” Jay added.
