That's one way to end the rumors.
There have been rumors circulating that Offset and Cardi B are on the rocks. On certain seedier parts of the Internet, the idea that the pair are splitting due to a rift caused by cheating has kicked into high gear and Offset’s working hard to dispel the myth.
First, he brought out Cardi at Veld Fest where he was performing with the rest of Migos. But that wasn’t enough to quiet anyone down. So, Offset took a running leap at the line and landed well across it.
He sent out a video of himself touching one of Cardi B’s no-no squares to dispel any doubt that the pair aren’t the real deal.
The video starts on an image of Cardi B and Offset in the club. It pans down to reveal that the Migos rapper’s hands are busy. If you needed receipts, it doesn’t get much clearer than that.
In addition to the X-rated share, the pair are also playing up their public coupledom in more safe-for-work ways. Cardi B sent out a tweet with a photo of the rapper and a caption of “Zeeeuuummmm” and several tongue out emojis.
Offset returned the favor by tweeting out a photo of Cardi with the caption “Boss Lady.” Cardi retweeted it, adding a kissy face and a heart.
On The Rise
Nobody would have guessed this around the time of “Versace” or even “Forever” but Cardi and Offset are a hip-hop power couple. The two are some of the most reliable hitmakers currently working. Everything the Migos touch turns to gold and just about any rapper can have a hit if they’re willing to adopt the group’s trademark flow.
While everyone is copying the group’s old sound, they’ve moved on to more interesting spaces sonically and visually. Their latest album Culture is full of mellow and experimental sounds that never would have made it onto their earlier projects. On top of that, they’ve been co-directing their eye-catching music videos, including the winter forest trip of “T-Shirt,” the presidential morgue visit of “Deadz” and the biker bar brawl of “What The Price.”
In addition to those videos, the “Bad and Boujee” video and track extended well beyond the usual reach of a Migos hit when the distinct opening phrase became a meme across the internet. There’s simply no way to escape the Migos, whether you’re listening to the radio, scrolling through Twitter or just trying to read Llama Llama Red Pajama to your kids.
Meanwhile, Cardi B has one of the biggest songs of the summer and a die-hard and rapidly growing fan base. It’s not the sort of thing you expect from a reality TV star who made a rap song out of a famous catchphrase. But she’s proven herself to be a genuinely talented MC with tough-talk bars that still manage to find time for high-fashion stunting. Listening to songs like “Bodak Yellow” and “Lick” gives the impression that Cardi could do this…well, forever.
