Tamika takes a tumble
Xscape’s reunion has been a bit rocky, to say the least. Luckily, that head-knocking hasn’t really extended to their live shows… until now. Tamika Scott had a wardrobe malfunction in the old-school, pre-Janet Super Bowl sense and it left her flat on her face.
The problem went down in the middle of the dance break for “Hot Boy.” While the other members of Xscape all had their tearaway jumpsuits pulled off without a hitch, Tamika’s persisted. The suit’s refusal to tear took out her ankles right as she was trying to hit a power pose and ended with her on the floor! To her credit, she gets right back into the swing of it as soon as her feet are clear. Tamika’s a pro and she’s not gonna let a little tumble keep her down.
The fact that Tamika was willing to get right back into it even after a faceplant should be obvious to anyone who is paying attention. In spite of years-long beefs and serious internal tension, Xscape has managed to come together for the good of the group.
Anyone who doubts their dedication would do well to look at their reality TV series Still Kickin It, clips from the show depict a group that’s very much at odds with each other — and Jermaine Dupri. In a recent episode, the group revealed that they came back together because they heard that Dupri was trying to license out their music to an unauthorized biopic of their rise to fame.
When the group confronted Dupri about his underhanded dealings, Dupri attempted to play at being some sort of strategic mastermind. He said he knew that the news of a deal would get back to them and “kick them in the a– to get up and work.”
The girls in the group weren’t happy with Dupri’s attempt to snatch credit for the reunion and told him as much.
“You didn’t know what. You’re just trying to take credit for this reunion. Stop it! OK!” Kandi Burruss responded in the confessional booth.
“What ya’ll are doing now,” Dupri said, “[this] is what I knew was going to happen anyway.”
Even though Dupri’s story earned him a middle finger from Buruss, she did admit that the biopic was a big part of the reason they came back together.
“What happened was a network was going to do an unauthorized movie about us, and of course I’m not going to let somebody just take my legacy,” she told People. “So I called my group members and we were all able to have a conversation to start trying to get our story told the right way.”

Even that didn’t mean they were a group. Basically, when the group tried to bury the hatchet, word mistakenly got around that the group was reunited. According to Burruss, the actual reunion stemmed from this moment. When the band saw the show offers come rolling in, they decided to run with it.
No matter who planned what or how it came together, the band looks great (give or take a tumble or two). Check out the video up top of Tamika’s fall via TMZ.
