"From the windooooow to the waaaaall!"
Atlanta’s music scene has changed a lot over the years, but one thing has always remained the same: Atlanta produces some of rap’s best artists. The Ying Yang Twins were apart of that bunch. Since 1997, they’ve given us party hits like, “Whistle While You Twurk,” “Get Low” and “Salt Shaker.” They were a staple in the late 90s to mid-2000s music. But it seems like they’ve disappeared off the face of the music scene. No worries, we’ve found them and this is what they’ve been up to.
Eric “Kaine” Jackson and Deongelo “D-Roc” Holmes, also known as the Ying Yang Twins, released their single debut, “Whistle While You Twurk” in 2000. It peaked at #17 on the US R&B/Hip-Hop chart.
Later that year, their debut album, Thug Walkin’ dropped. Half of the tracks on the album were produced by Lil Jon, who at the time wasn’t popular.
Their follow-up album, Alley: The Return of the Ying Yang Twins was released in March 2002 and came in at #79 on the Billboard 200. Featuring singles, “Say I Yi Yi” and “By Myself,” the album peaked at #58 and sold over 400,000 copies. They received a lot of recognition with this album and reunited with Lil Jon.
