Troy Ave, the 31-year-old rapper from New York, has a lot on his plate right now. He recently decided that he was the second coming of Tupac, now calling himself “Nupac,” but there’s other things that he should be worried about. He got in a scuffle a while back and it ended up with lives being taken. Was it his fault? Check out what the victim’s family says.
Last year Troy Ave was involved in a shooting that took the life of his security guard, Ronald “Banga” McPhatter. Afterwards, Troy created a $2,000 scholarship for graduating students at New Utrecht High School. It seems like a nice gesture, but the McPhatter family has something to say about it.
The security guard’s sister, Jamie, blamed Troy for her brother’s death. She also said that nobody in her family knew about the scholarship program until they saw it in the news. She sat down with DNAInfo and had some interesting things to say.
“We hold him responsible for the death of our brother,” she said.
“My family is not trying to stop kids from getting money, but we don’t want him to use our brother as a publicity stunt. We didn’t get a call, none of us were aware of it until we saw the news,” the sister said.
She continued, “We’ve done nothing to him, but he’s exploited our family and this tragedy in such a negative way. He used our brother as a human bulletproof vest. Instead of apologizing, he bashes us and he disrespects us and talks down on us.”
