Tekashi may be put away for a long time now
The bust-out rainbow rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine may be headed to jail after he was accused of choking and harassing someone who was only recording a video of him at a mall. While the event might have been let go, the person he assaulted is a minor. The rapper is already on probation for doing illegal things with another minor. If the judge finds out about this incident before his next court date, it may be years before Tekashi can be a free man.
Because of Tekashi’s extremely questionable behavior around children, it begs the question of whether people should keep supporting him as an artist.
Takeshi 6ix9ine made a splash in 2017. The Brooklyn rapper, born Daniel Hernandez, came onto the scene with rainbow-colored hair and grills. He dropped the hit “Gummo,” which debuted at No. 58 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. By mid-December, it reached No. 13.
However, his growing fame meant that more and more people would find out about his sketchy past. In February 2015, Tekashi was at a friend’s apartment when a young woman showed up. Tekashi and fellow rapper Tay Milly (Taquan Anderson) engaged in sexual behavior with the girl, which was evidenced by three highly-explicit videos that showed up on social media.
Somehow the girl’s mother saw the videos and reported the incident to the police. Tekashi was 18 at the time while his female counterpart was just 13 years old.
Staying Away from Trouble
Tekashi pled guilty to three felony charges, though he publicly denies that they actually had sex. The artist was found guilty and will be charged on Jan. 30.
Until the sentencing, Tekashi is on probation. He is not allowed to post explicit or violent videos featuring women or children on social media, and he must complete community service. He’s also required to get his GED and write an apology letter to the victim.
Most importantly, he can’t commit another crime.
If he meets the conditions of his probation, he will only be sentenced to three years of probation and won’t be required to register as a sex offender. If he fails, however, he will be locked up for one to three years.
While it looked like he was staying out of trouble and focusing on making music with Swizz Beatz and Fetty Wap, this recent violent episode may take him away from his burgeoning career for a few years.
A Texas teen claimed that Tekashi attacked him in public this week (Jan. 6). Twitter user @Santi_7272 posted pictures of a red mark on his neck, claiming that the colorful rapper choked him just for filming him while they were walking around the Galleria Mall in Houston.
“I JUST GOT CHOCKED BY TEKASHI 69 AT THE GALLERIA (Houston, TX) IN FRONT OF MY PARENTS,” the young fan wrote. “MY MOM, BROTHER AND DAD LITERALLY HAD TO PULL ME AWAY FROM HIM AND HIS GOONS. I WAS RECORDING HIM WHEN HE DECIDED TO CHOKE ME HARD AS HELL.”
The guy wasn’t able to keep his video of the unwarranted attack, but people who witnessed the event sent their recordings to him. From multiple clips, Tekashi clearly charges at the fan and pulls on his clothing, refusing to let go.
Tekashi putting his hand on the fan’s neck isn’t clearly seen though. Regardless, there were plenty of eyewitnesses alongside photos of his throat taken immediately after the attack that seem to back up his story.
Tekashi was backed up by his friend, Ugly God, who claimed that the teen was calling Tekashi “gay ice cream truck” and a “walking lolipop.” Alleged name-calling does not necessarily warrant attacking a teen boy when you’re on probation though.
The teen in question heard about Ugly God’s assertions. While he said he respected him for trying to protect his friend, he denied Ugly God’s allegations. “Lying about the situation isn’t going to help TEKASHI at all, the truth always comes out,” the young man concluded.
It’s unclear whether or not the teen reported the event to police, but he does seem to have compelling evidence… should he choose to press charges.
