What's he saying?
What do you know about dancehall, Drake!? That’s basically what Sean Paul has been saying for the past few months. The singer from Jamaica has a reputation of being a legend in the dancehall genre, so he knows what he’s talking about. The only question is: Does Drake even care?
A few months ago, 44-year-old dancehall king Sean Paul said that he believed Drake needed to give more credit towards the dancehall genre for his hit single “One Dance.” The song made a huge splash and was topping charts all across the globe, and now Sean wants to revisit that topic.
“I think at the time when it was popping off, it would have been good for him to actually put accolades towards the whole culture,” he said, saying that Drake wasn’t putting any effort to shine light on the dancehall culture.
He continued, saying, “He’s friendly with a few people in the business in Jamaica and that’s good, I love it. But if he had given more accolades when he was actually making it and said ‘This is the music I love’ it would have been cool.”
