Rappers’ careers go up and down all the time. One day they’re at the top of the world and the next nobody is listening to them. We’ve had plenty of instances where rappers get famous and then their game drops off, and these are the best examples we could find. Why can’t rappers just stay at the same skill level the whole time?
Before you freak out, this one might not be what you think. Nicki Minaj is a great rapper, but a lot of people think that she’s almost dumbed down her lyrics as she became more famous and mainstream.
Her peak was around the time she recorded her incredible verse on Kanye West’s “Monster,” but ever since she’s been lacking that fire.
Piles came onto the scene with a bang back in 2007, but after his hit songs like “Shawty” he fell off. He’s never been able to reclaim his success, and all of his songs are pretty much the same now.
Soulja Boy has obviously fallen off after his “Crank That Soulja Boy” hit. The song was literally being played all across the world, even in places where they didn’t speak English. He’s still making music today, but one listen will make you want to stop.
