He might be one of the most legendary R&B artists of all time, but there’s no question R. Kelly has had some interesting troubles with the law throughout his career. Almost a decade ago in 2008 there were rumors surfacing that involved him and an adult tape he made with a 14-year-old girl. Everyone started to question who he really was at that point. Nine years later, people are about to question his personal life again…
In a report from BuzzFeed, some parents and former friends of Kelly are saying interesting things about R. Kelly’s lifestyle. According to them, the 50-year-old singer is being accused of running an “abusive cult” of young women.
It’s scarier than it sounds. The young women involved supposedly aren’t allowed to use their phones or go to the bathroom without his permission. They’re also not allowed to make any contact with their family unless he says so.
One of the families that opened up said that they let their 19-year-old daughter travel with R. Kelly to try and help advance her musical career. They knew about his past and all the rumors, but that didn’t stop them from giving him a chance.
“In the back of our minds, we were thinking she could be around him if I was with her,” the mother said. “It didn’t really hit home. Even with the Aaliyah situation, now that I think about it, ‘Age Ain’t Nothing But a Number,’ but you don’t think about that. You grew up with the song, and you like the song,” she finished.
The family sent their daughter off with R. Kelly two years ago, and they’ve only seen her a few times since the departure. Because of this, the mother was forced to close down her business and open up an investigation. She even has the FBI involved in both Illinois and Georgia.
The biggest issue for the parents is the fact that their daughter isn’t “missing.” She’s living with Kelly and she repeatedly tells her parents that she’s doing just fine.
