Brooklyn rapper, Pop Smoke, was shot and killed Wednesday morning in what appears to be a home invasion robbery.
Bashar Barakah Jackson, professionally known as Pop Smoke, was shot and killed Wednesday morning in what appears to be a home invasion robbery. He was 20 years old. The rapper was at a home in the Hollywood Hills at around 4:30 a.m. when two men wearing hoodies and masks broke into a house.
The Brooklyn rapper was renting a home from Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, Teddi Mellencamp and her husband, Edwin Arroyave. According to the New York Daily News, police said the victim was pronounced dead at a local hospital after being transported via ambulance by the Los Angeles Fire Department.
It’s unclear if the shooters had any personal connection to Pop Smoke, or who owned the house.
Pop Smoke gained national fame last year on the strength of his single “Welcome to the Party.” The breakout hit was remixed by ASAP Ferg, Meek Mill, Pusha T, and others. Pop Smoke premiered an official remix featuring Nicki Minaj several months after the original version’s April 2019 release.
