When Offset proposed to Cardi B in October, hip-hop celebrated with them. The video of Offset popping the big question, posted by Cardi the day after, was retweeted and liked thousands of times. Captioned “Offset proposed,” the video shows the couple at Power 99 radio’s Powerhouse concert in Philadelphia.
The public saw Cardi and Offset loving each other, celebrating their up coming nuptials, and being all around relationship goals for the world. What the public did not see, at the time, was the lawsuit Offset’s baby mama had put together… no, not the women who birthed his first two children — daughter Kalea Marie and son Kody — a different baby mama.
Without even taking a paternity test, Justine Watson knew Offset was the father of her seven-year-old son Jordan. Watson filed legal documents, requesting Offset be required to pay retroactive child support, for her son’s health insurance, and $15,000 for her legal fees. The Migos member, born Kiari Kendrell Cephus, responded to the suit last month, confirming that he is in fact a father-of-three. The “Bad and Boujee” rapper claims that he has been financially supporting Jordon since the beginning, but according to Watson’s paperwork, Offset’s pitching in was “sporadic.”
The Georgia native reportedly said the court intervening is a good thing. Though Offset does not agree with having to pay Watson’s legal fees, he is requesting joint custody and that Jordon’s last name be changed from Watson to Cephus.
What does Cardi B have to say about marrying a surprise father-of-three?
All About Family
According to a source from Hollywood Life, the “Foreva” rapper couldn’t be happier. Being super family-oriented, the New York native will welcome being the step-mother of young Kalea Marie, Kody, and Jordan. The source dished that Cardi is “ride or die” but wouldn’t be with Offset if he proved to be a “deadbeat dad.”
“He wants to get shared custody of his oldest son and she supports him 100 percent. Cardi has a huge heart and she’s ready to give love to Offset’s kids and be a stepmom,” the anonymous source continued. “Cardi is all about family, and now that she and Offset are family, his kids are her family too.”
The star — who is super close to her younger sister, 21-year-old Hennessy Carolina — is said to be proud of Offset for stepping up to the plate.
Whether or not Cardi will get along with Offset’s babies’ mothers is yet to be seen, but one thing is for sure — Offset’s children will have one hell of a protector in their future step-mother. Cardi doesn’t hold her tongue for anyone, and she protects those close to her relentlessly.
When Cardi’s sister Hennessy — whose name actually led to the “Lick” rapper being called Bacardi, which was then shortened to Cardi — revealed that not only was she gay but that she had a girlfriend, Cardi stuck by her. After internet trolls tried to shame Hennessy for a video Cardi posted of her, the former Love & Hip Hop: New York star stuck by her again.
“Some Bi–h talking bout my sister looking for attention from man from the video I posted of her .Sis my sister is gay she could careless,” Cardi said on Twitter.
According to Hennessy, who is madly in love with her girlfriend Mel, she and Cardi have an unbreakable bond. “We get along, we’re best friends,” she told BET during an interview. “Sometimes we used to fight for mascara but it’s OK. That’s what sisters do.”
