For someone who swears there’s no bad blood there, Nicki Minaj is doing a terrible job of not fueling rumors that her and Cardi B have beef. Just four months ago, Minaj took to Twitter to tell fans that “No Flags” was not directed towards Bardi.
“It sure ain’t. Wrote this one a cpl months ago too #NoFlag,” Nicki tweeted in reply to a fan.
Shortly after that, Nicki and Cardi herself reaffirmed that there was no drama between them. After Migos’ “Motorsport” was released, Cardi told Complex that people should stop fishing for issues. “People wouldn’t be satisfied even if [we] was making out,” the “Lick” rapper said. “Very true. We could make out & it wouldn’t be enough,” Nicki responded to Cardi’s comments on Twitter. “I’m done.”
Oh, but now, Nicki might be singing a different tune.
With two new music videos out — G-Eazy’s “No Limit” and Ozuna’s “La Modelo” — internet trolls were bound to find something wrong with Cardi and Nicki’s insistence that everything between is fine. According to Team Minaj (Nicki’s fans), Cardi is stealing her swag… down to the facial expressions.
All Too Familiar
Around the 1:50 mark of the “No Limit” music video — which was released earlier this week (Dec. 20) — Cardi can be seen making the “opps!” face, an expression Minaj makes a lot.
Throughout “La Modelo” Cardi is wearing a bodysuit, which seems to be Nicki’s go to for most of her music videos. The star wore bodysuits in her “‘Anaconda” music video, her “No Frauds” music video, in Yo Gotti’s “Rake It Up” music video, and in Lil Uzi’s “The Way Life Goes” music video… The list goes on and on.
Faced with these facts, Team Minaj hit social media, shaming Cardi for being less than original.
“Cardi b being a wanna be nicki in no limit video and releasing her Spanish song as well,” Twitter user @spooky_stan tweeted alongside a sleeping emoji. “I said what I said …she copying nicki hairstyle ,nicki singing …everything ..if only she can copy her writing ability …oops.”
User @lifestyle__1 agreed, writing, “Right!!!! Since when Cardi B sing & rap at the same time only @NICKIMINAJ does that.”
To make matters worse, Nicki fueled them on, knowing the internet’s tendency to dramatize everything. “I’m glad y’all peeped,” the “Starships” artist tweeted Wednesday.
She said what she said
Cardi said: “I don’t bother with these h**s, don’t let these h**s bother me.” She’s coming with that same energy now, as she has not responded to Team Minaj or Nicki herself. Not that she has to respond because Bradi Gang has Cardi’s back. Cardi’s fans ran to Twitter to tell Team Minaj and Minaj herself to relax.
“I like Nicki Minaj but she should NEVER come for Cardi B about mimicking Anything when she is a plastic carbon copy of the ORIGINAL Queen Bee Lil Kim. #NoShadeButShade,” wrote Twitter user @HottieBodyTati_.
User @I_AmDifferent27 agreed, tweeting, “Nicki Minaj b reaching talking Cardi B tryna b like her. When she stole all lil kim s**t (the original). Now she mad. Lls. Even if she was. Accept ur karma sis. #dobetter”
“Cardi b been in the game like 6 months and she’s better than Nicki Minaj and anything Nicki Minaj ever did,” tweeted @dinad4178.
Let’s point out that Cardi also said: “If you really want some smoke, you could pull up, you get it.”
