Nicki Minaj has a lot of her fans (including me) on edge. On Thursday (Sept. 5), the “Megatron” rapper announced that she is retiring. And while fans are not ready to let go, Nicki’s reason behind her decision is one that we have no choice to support.
Nicki Minaj took to Twitter to update her fans on her career status. “I’ve decided to retire & have my family. I know you guys are happy now,” she tweeted. “To my fans, keep reppin me, do it til da death of me, ❌ in the box- cuz ain’t nobody checkin me. ✅ Love you for LIFE 😘♥️🦄”
The news comes just one month after our sister site, Celebuzz!, reported that Nicki and her boyfriend, Kenneth Petty, copped a marriage license at a Beverly Hills courthouse.
Witnesses saw the couple receiving proper paperwork needed to wed at the marriage license bureau window, according to TMZ. Sources say the two were waiting in line in a space that read, “Marriage licenses and ceremony appts. ONLY.” They were trying to keep their visit on the down low, but I’m sure it’s hard to go incognito as Nicki Minaj — especially when she was wearing bright red, knee-high boots — according to sources.
Sources pointed out that back in June, Nicki revealed that she and Petty already had a marriage license on her Queen Radio show. I’ve never been married, but I’m sure you don’t need two licenses, amirite? Maybe the previous license expired and they had to get a new one.
Alas, Nicki has been mum’s the word about the allegations, but a marriage license is only good for 90 days, so if all of this is true, we may be seeing our girl jump the broom soon. But seeing how private and serious she is about her relationship, we wouldn’t be surprised if the couple eloped.
As CB also previously reported, Nicki and Petty have a long history dating back to when they were kids. He’s always had a special place in her heart and she seems to be genuinely happy. According to sources close to Nicki, “She’s happy and in love and he’s not going anywhere.”
Looks like she’s sticking by her words and these two will be creating a family soon. Good for you, Nick! Best of luck to the both of them.
