Bobby stays swole
Bobby Shmurda continues to swell up behind bars. After photos of Bobby looking buff were revealed earlier this year, interest in the formerly svelte rapper’s appearance spiked. Bobby has definitely maintained since then as these new photos with a friend and his mother show.
Bobby is in the middle of serving a seven-year sentence and caught another four-year charge for possession of a weapon while in prison. However, the judge ruled that the sentences could be served concurrently, so Shmurda is still due to be released on his initial date.
Though Shmurda accepted a plea deal ― largely to help lessen the sentence of his friend and fellow rapper Rowdy Rebel ― he maintains his innocence on the charges that sent him to prison in the first place.
Shmurda also denied the idea that he was given a fair trial. He opened up in a 2016 interview with XXL:
“A witness came and said they didn’t recognize anybody. They got cops lying on the stand. They dismissed my case in Brooklyn and brought it back to Manhattan. So we got the grand jury from Manhattan and I’m trying to get the grand jury from Brooklyn because the cop testified twice and told two stories, but the judge keeps denying the motion. They just violating our rights, and then I look at them like how you want people to follow the law and y’all not even following y’all own laws?”
Bobby also told the magazine that he thinks the case against him was motivated by his fame. His arrest and sentencing came shortly after he released the viral hit “Hot N*gga.” Rather than go through with the whole trial, he accepted a deal after he realized that felt the case against him and subsequent trial were rigged against him. His plea deal saved Rowdy from getting slapped with a life sentence but Shmurda is still upset about the way things went. The rapper explained:
“They’re just doing this because I’m Bobby Shmurda and this is supposed to be a political case and all types of crazy sh*t. I want people to pay attention because I want them to say what evidence they have on me. I want them to put it out there because there’s no evidence whatsoever. They don’t have me conspiring to murder nobody, no guns, no fingerprints, none of my DNA is on the guns. This sh*t is crazy.”
His mother echoed those sentiments in a separate interview with the publication:
“I’m feeling like I’m in limbo. I just don’t know what’s going on and, sadly enough, I feel like my son is being mistreated. I feel like you have probable cause to lock them up, they’re innocent until proven guilty but I just wish that they would treat him like Ackquille Pollard [and not Bobby Shmurda]. I just feel like it’s a Bobby Shmurda cause, and that’s not fair. Then, I have only two sons and both of them are involved so it’s very strenuous.”

While all that may be true, they weren’t letting it get them down during this visit. Mama Shmurda and Bobby are all smiles in the photos in front of that still-odd cityscape painting that we saw in the last photos of Shmurda.
