Blazing the charts.
This year has been a pretty good year for music. We’ve had bomb projects like Kanye West’s Life of Pablo, Drake’s Views, Chance the Rapper’s Coloring Book, and just recently, Solange’s A Seat at the Table, just to name a few. The year is almost over, but even more good music has just begun.
For the past month, artists have been dropping hits like never before. And while there are a few veterans that are keeping our attention, there are a few rookies looking to steal their shine. We can go on and on about the good music that we’ve heard all year, but we’d rather focus on greatness of a smaller scale. These songs have topped the charts and continue to rise to the top.
Drake ft. Rihanna – “Too Good”
What’s a list without Drake and Rihanna? And what’s a great song without both Drake and Rihanna on it. Another tropical tune, Drake enlisted Rihanna onto this song that serves up what sounds like Caribbean vibes. These two make great music together and this song is added to that list.
Drake – “One Dance”
When the beat drops, you can’t help but to pat your chest and do the dance Drake does when this song comes on. With his lyrics and features from Nigerian Afrobeat artist Wizkid and British singer Kyla, the tropical tune was hot for the summer and lingered around to heat us up for the winter. It’s STILL hot!
D.R.A.M. – “Broccoli”
Though his actual first single was “Cha Cha,” “Broccoli” served as D.R.A.M.’s breakout single. The song featuring Georgia-based rapper, Lil Yachty, is still so hot, that it was certified double platinum by the RIAA. An ode to marijuana, the song set the tone for D.R.A.M.’s success. And the recent release of his debut album, Big baby D.R.A.M. is a great continuation of his dope sound.
