Dem Franchize Boyz was one of the more popular Atlanta rap groups from the 2000s. Consisting of four group members, Parlae (born Maurice Gleaton), Pimpin’ (Jamal Willingham), Jizzal Man (Bernard Leverette), and Buddie (Gerald Tiller), the group released ultimate hits like “White Tee,” “Oh, I Think They Like Me,” and “Lean wit It, Rock wit It.”
Although they haven’t made hits in a while, the group experienced recognizable fame and just recently performed together at the 2019 Essence Music Festival in New Orleans. Fans didn’t know it would be the last time they’d lean and rock with the group as a whole as one of the members recently passed away from cancer.
Earlier this week, Gerald Tiller, better known as Buddie, passed away. The group’s Instagram account posted a photo of Buddie, announcing his departure from the world. “🥺🥺 R.I.P Buddie you Will be Missed #demfranchizeboyz,” the caption read. The post included multiple photos of the group when they were on the rise to success.
According to Jermaine Dupri, the rapper died from cancer. The mogul took to Instagram to pay tribute to the member of the group he signed to So So Def back in 2005. “They call me Doctor Doc I prescribe what a ni**a need” #ripbuddy may your soul rest easy #demfranchiseboyz. #f**kcancer” he captioned the above photo.
Da Brat also paid tribute to the fallen rapper via Instagram. “#RIPBUDDY #demfranchizeboyz #🖕🏽cancer,” she wrote. Fellow group member, Parlae, wrote a lengthy caption, remembering Buddie.
