Weezy can't stop
Lil Wayne was forced to cancel shows and head to the hospital after suffering a seizure. The doctor told him that we was working too much and the fatigue and stress was triggering his epilepsy. He ordered Weezy to rest but his manager Cortez Bryant isn’t sure it will happen.
In an interview with TMZ at LAX, Bryant said he’ll do his best to try and make sure that Lil Wayne doesn’t overextend himself. But he added that Lil Wayne is his own man and he’s still the same person who went on that ungodly run of music in the mid-’00s. He never stops working for anything and it seems like epilepsy is no exception.
When the interviewer asked Bryant if Wayne would slow down, he seemed skeptical
“I tell him that all the time but I don’t think that’s gonna work, man,” Bryant said.. “He a workaholic. That’s what got him to where he is now man. He’s just [in] the studio all the time trying to make music, get through this situation and give his fans what they need.”
Bryant also wanted to make it clear that they can’t just put Wayne’s life on hold over this. He has to live with epilepsy for the rest of his life and a seizure doesn’t change matters.
“He’s a epileptic, so that’s the reality of it. You know, so it’s something that we’re gonna have to deal with for the rest of his life and, you know, we’ll just make sure he’s popping meds and try to force him to get some rest, but sometimes he doesn’t do that. But it’s something that, it’s not gonna hinder us and stop us,” he said.
“It’s not going to stop us, he added. “We’re not going to let a disease stop us.”
Bryant bristled at the idea that the seizures were caused by Wayne’s former battles with cough syrup addiction.
“I mean, I just tell the people that it has nothing to do with any of those other things,” he said.
Bryant also seemed slightly annoyed at the media circus that comes down every time that Wayne suffers a seizure. He said that people should be prepared to hear this kind of news given the chronic nature of Weezy’s diagnosis.
“He’s an epileptic. It’s a disease that he has to deal with,” he said. “It’s reality that this might not be the last time you see Lil Wayne having a seizure.”
