'LHHNY' still got it
Love & Hip Hop: New York will feature quite a few new faces in its cast of characters this season, but that doesn’t mean it will want for drama. Mona is the Lou Donaldson of catfights, everything she produces is going to be messy.
Check out this preview video for an upcoming episode, where Mariahlynn throws a haymaker and knocks Sophia Body right off her bed. We’ve moved way past drink-throwing — these girls want a contract and they know how to get it. It’s four-dimensional chess, but with a lot more hair-pulling. Mariahlynn has been around but Sophia Body wants to stay around. Get your money, newbie.
In addition, this year’s season will follow professional ex-boyfriend Safaree as he tries to wiggle his way back into the New York hip-hop world after Mona made him jump coasts. Meanwhile, Remy Ma is starting up some sort of networking event for professional women. All of this, plus the thrown hands of the aforementioned women, will hopefully be enough to paper over a gaping, Cardi shaped hole at the center of the show.
Plenty of Drama
Yep, Cardi’s gone on to bigger and better things. She’s the first Love & Hip Hop star to take the hip-hop bit seriously and pop off outside of the VH1 universe. (Stevie J and Joe Budden had success before the show. Don’t come for me.) She’s left the reality TV life behind in favor of Billboard-topping hits.
But drama-starved fans can take heart in storylines like Mendeecees’. The LHHNY member recently posted a loving tribute to his infant son on Instagram.
“Having children has changed my perspective in life, for myself as a person, as a man, but it all started with you,” he wrote. “The first separate human I really loved, you took selfish and made it selfless.”
Sounds boring, right? But not so fast. Mendeecees’ mother flipped it on him, accusing the reality star of being a bad father and a liar using his son as a prop to up his profile before the reality TV series hits the airwaves.
Check out her Instagram rant:
“It is just not enough to wish him a happy birthday. Every year around this time LHHNY is about to air, all the phoniness come out. It’s funny how Mendeecees and Yandy have these great post and captions (which we all know Yandy is writing and posting for him) especially, for my son’s birthday, but where is the father when it comes to my son getting emotional support (we all know he is in jail). Most important my son needs his dad to talk to. Let’s mention for the past 10 months no phone calls, no letters being written, I am blocked from visits, so how is your son supposed to see him. I am not angry, just can’t understand the B.S. drama from their side.”
Of course, we have to ask how much of this storyline will VH1 be allowed to film, given that Mendeecees is currently incarcerated. Still, any footage that can make use of this clearly ripe story is going to be juicy.
