She's celebrating right now, but maybe not for long
Karen King beat a very serious rap before, so we’re waiting on pins and needles to see if she can pull it off again! She was on trial and set to go to prison for her alleged crimes, but the case has been thrown out before it really began. However, she’s not out of the woods just yet!
Karen King has a history of strange crimes even though she hasn’t done serious time for any of them. She was featured on an episode of America’s Most Wanted in 2012 when she and her sons were accused of kidnapping and trying to kill her ex-husband. She was later cleared of all of the charges.
Now, the mom of Scrapp DeLeon and Sas is waiting to learn if she’s going to prison for three years. Karen was arrested on May 23, 2016 at a club where she was set to host a party. She was accused of racking up about $4,946.52 worth of merchandise at Saks Fifth Avenue in Atlanta using someone else’s name and credit card. Not to mention, it was initially believed that a store employee helped her commit the crime.
The Fulton County District Attorney charged her with three felony charges including financial identity fraud, theft, and first-degree forgery.
Not My Fault
Karen said about the arrest:
“I was doing my show and it was interrupted by the police. Of course, I didn’t know what I was being arrested for and there were so many police officers. In my mind, there were so many police officers because someone died. I thought, ‘Oh my God, did something happen to Sas?’ They come to tell me something happened to my baby. When they got close to me though, they asked, ‘Are you Karen King?’ I said, ‘Yes,’ and they said, ‘You’re under arrest.’ I was like, what?! Now usually if they arrest you, you have a mugshot or a picture from the warrant but they had a print out of the front page of my Instagram.”
She boldly stated, “I have never been the person to do something where I live, where I lay my head, to do something I’m not supposed to be doing.”
She was bailed out of jail for $30,000 and was awaiting her trial, but Karen caught a big break recently that she definitely didn’t see coming. The 70-year-old victim wouldn’t come to court to testify for reasons that are unknown. The judge had no choice but to dismiss the case. However, the prosecutors have six months to file the case again and try to get the victim to testify and convince the judge to put Karen behind bars. They stated that they have every intention of refiling.
That’s not all that’s going on in Karen’s weird world. In late July, Karen was arrested seconds after appearing in court for her identity fraud case. It seems as though she hadn’t been making payments on the Maserati that she bought in 2014, and there was a warrant out for her arrest. KK said that she’s made every payment on that car, but the case remains unresolved.
With all of the money crimes, it looks like Karen is hurting for cash. Perhaps she doesn’t appear on Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta enough to make the dough needed to live a life of luxury.
