Get it together, Ms. Hill
Lauryn Hill has had a rough couple of years, and it looks like the drama may not be over just yet. Not only is the singer being bashed for missing performances and showing up at unprofessionally late hours, the Miseducation icon is now facing more tax issues. Lauryn already did time in 2013 for tax evasion, but it looks like that might not be the only trouble she’ll have to pay for.
Lauryn did time for tax evasion in 2013
The singer previously owed around $1 million to the feds in 2013, which led her to have to spend 3 months in prison. Lauryn spent time at a low security all-female prison after failing to pay her federal income taxes.
She now faces another tax lien from the government
Lauryn reportedly still owes $438,221.31 to the government in a new lien filed on June 30th in the state of New Jersey. There is also another separate open case from 2012 that states that she owes $446,386.60 in taxes as well.
Lauryn addressed the new lien, clearing the rumors
After fans expressed their worries about Lauryn being in more trouble with the feds with the new lien being filed, the singer addressed the rumors. According to her statement, this is an extension of her past financial troubles, and nothing that is new to her.
