K. Michelle spilled all kinds of tea
There are few people on Earth with more tea to spill than K. Michelle. Due to her relationship with R. Kelly, her time on Love & Hip Hop, her beef with Nicki Minaj and her own successful business ventures, any interview she gives is bound to be full of interesting tidbits. And her new interview with The Shade Room fails to disappoint. The singer and entrepeneur talked about her work with Mona Scott and why she’ll never return to that world; she also spoke candidly about her decision to have plastic surgery.
Let’s start with her discussion of R. Kelly though. Michelle dated the troubled R&B star in the past. She danced around the question when TSR asked her about him, given the recent allegations that he is running a cult of young women who he sexually abuses.
“I believe that he’s a creative man. But it’s a very touchy topic for me that I haven’t spoke candidly about,” she said, later adding that she couldn’t take away his musical accomplishments. “That was my mentor. How I record and I how I take pride in everything that I write came from him.”
She was tight lipped about R. Kelly, but Michelle was much more open about her plastic surgery. “I got my body done because I wanted to be thick,” she said. “My t*tties was flat as this table, they was pancakes… It was a step toward becoming Kimberly again and not K. Michelle.”
Talking Love & Hip Hop
Of course, no discussion with K. Michelle would be complete without discussing her time on reality television. She dove into her beef with Joseline Hernandez and explained how the whole thing started.
“I fell out with Jose probably a couple ago. I’m loyal. I’ve always been supportive of Joseline. I tried to keep her with the other girls and give her a shot. The first night that Mona [Scott] was at my restaurant, it caused a bit of a commotion. And you knew she didn’t like that,” she said.
“She took her man hands and decided to come over to my page and [mimics typing],” she said. “I’ve changed but I’m still from Memphis. I don’t play that…Once you come to my territory, my bubble, my house, my space, I’m going to give your ass what you’re looking for.”
Michelle also balked at the idea that she had slept with her fellow VH1 star. “I have never slept with Joseline,” she said. “I’ve already been in one abusive relationship. I don’t plan on going back into one with another man.”
Given those feelings, it’s probably not that surprising that Michelle has no plans to return to the show. “I’m not going back to Love & Hip-Hop,” she said. “No amount of money or nothing made me feel comfortable. I just felt completely out of place.”
Though Michelle seemed pretty clear on the idea that she wasn’t on bad terms with Mona Scott, even if others have fallen out with the showrunner. She said that people get rubbed the wrong way by Scott because she’s about her business. “There’s a bluntness to [her],” she said. “When you’re doing business, you do the business.”
“I feel like people get above themselves…with no accomplishments, no nothing,” she said. “She gave you camera time. That doesn’t make you a star.”
