Jhene and Dot are done for good
Jhene Aiko and Dot Da Genius have finally, officially split. Though Aiko has been openly dating Big Sean for quite a while, her marriage to the producer was still on the books. According to TMZ, their less-than-year-long marriage is now legally in the past.
Though the fallout between the pair might have been messy, the paperwork wasn’t. According to the gossip website, everything went smoothly due to their short coupling and the fact that they have no children together.

Aiko denied ever cheating on her ex-husband. If taken as truth, that means that the pair have been separated for quite some time. Aiko made out with Big Sean on stage in June of last year. Aiko allegedly filed for divorce last August.
“Never let a man disrespect u in any way,” she wrote on Twitter in response to the claims that she was unfaithful. “I
only cheated myself. so glad to be free from all the drugs, depression and confrontation.”
That last bit about confrontation led to rumors that Dot was abusive to Aiko. After riled fans attacked the producer for alleged ills, he was forced to clear the air on Instagram.
“In light of public threats, false allegations and attempts to slander my name and character, I am compelled to speak up,” he wrote. “Because my nature is peaceful, I’ve been silent out of respect for all involved, and to maintain my privacy. However, I believe the truth must be heard, which is that I’ve never been violent or abusive towards any woman in my life. Such behavior is abhorrent to me and far from how I conduct myself. Moving forward, I will continue to focus on my family, friends and music, and soon enough the entire truth shall come to light.”
Aiko also addressed rumors around their marriage at the time, saying that reports were inacurrate but offering little clarification. “With the internet as your source, your point is invalid and inaccurate,” she wrote. “Your ignorance grows stronger.”
She also implied that Dot kickstarted their falling out and left their relationship behind long before her on-stage liplock with Big Sean. “He jumped ship a long time ago,” she said. “He wants to be the victim and I’ll let his b*tch ass assume the role.”
Though the pair have spilled a few secrets in the past, they met the actual reveal of their divorce with silence. Neither artist has commented on the news that they have split, and it will probably remain that way.
All of Dot’s recent posts have been about production work while Aiko is hyping up the release of her new album Trip. The ultra-personal album covers a lot of facts in a turbulent period in her life, including the relationship falling apart and the death of her brother.
“He has been my friend throughout this whole thing,” she told Complex about Sean. “I actually met him around the time my brother was dying and he came to my brother’s funeral which was super sweet of him. It’s something I still deal with, searching for that relationship like a strong connection I had with my brother. The deepest bond a man and woman can have is the brother and sister relationship, I don’t think there is anything deeper than that.
“I feel like with Sean we were friends for so long before we started dating that we are friends before anything and it’s easy for me to separate our friendship from our relationship if that makes sense. And that’s the closest thing I’ve had to that type of connection since I lost my brother, and then there is the romantic part of it too.”
