Doesn't really matter that she missed the show
We’ve all had situations that kept us from making it to a show on time. You know, those last-minute cancellations and fluctuations that just keep piling up until our whole plan for the evening is ruined. But not all of us are Teyana Taylor. If the “Fade” video didn’t make that clear, then this heartwarming story of fandom will spell it out.
Teyana was a mess because her flight was delayed, throwing off her whole schedule and forcing her to miss a Janet Jackson concert. That’s understandable. Anyone who isn’t distraught over missing Ms. Jackson (if ya nasty) playing hits from “Control” to “All For You” is not someone you want to associate with — she underlined that fact when someone tried to call her out for crying on her Instagram.
“Teyana Taylor crying on her IG Live because her flight got delayed and now she won’t make the Janet Jackson concert,” wrote a fan on Twitter.
“I am distraught,” she responded, refusing to dial down how she felt when people called her on it.
Janet apparently caught wind of it, because she FaceTimed Teyana to talk before her show. If Taylor’s ecstatic reaction on social media wasn’t enough to sell it — or just in case you thought this whole thing was a front — check out the shot that Janet herself posted. Take a close look at Taylor’s face on Janet’s screen. That’s a fangirl one step away from fainting.
“I meant what I said. You’re so beautiful!” Janet captioned the photo. “Can’t wait to meet you in person. Love and blessings.”
Taylor’s response was… a bit less measured.
“B*TCHHHHHH IM MOTHA F*CKIN HOLLERINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG OMGGGGG JANET JUST FACETIME’D ME OMG OMG OMFG,” she wrote in a panic on Twitter after the conversation. “OMG I WAS GAGGING!!!! B*itch I dropped the phone she’s so stunning!!!!!!”
A Great Run
Taylor has been on an incredible run lately, closing out a lingerie show at New York Fashion Week and starring in Kanye West music videos. Given how much of an impact the “Fade” video had on Taylor’s visibility, it’s funny to learn that she wasn’t even sure if she would be in it.
“When I heard that the video was going to be premiering at the VMAs, I was like ‘Oh my god, it’s tonight! Do I look good? Do I look great? Is he going to change his mind and not premiere it?’” she said in an interview with Vogue. “At that point I had already told all of my family, but even when he went onstage and I saw him, I thought he might just wind up doing something completely different because you just never know with Kanye.”
Though the final product was glamorous, Taylor said the set was anything but. The closing shot of Kanye surrounded by sheep was made with real sheep and Teyana says they weren’t exactly respectful of their surroundings.
“They were sh*tting all over the place – there was poop everywhere!” Taylor began. “I didn’t know what was going on. I thought, ‘This crazy mother-effer. He’s got 15 sheep in this gym right now, with poop all over the place.’“
