He was wrong for this.
Some free advice for rappers and singers alike: Maybe you shouldn’t start talking about Tupac until you’ve had at least three hits. “Come Thru” was great but that doesn’t mean that Jacquees can come for the king. That’s exactly what he did in this new photo recreation of Pac’s iconic bathtub photo shoot though.
For the unfamiliar, Pac famously posed for a photo in a bathtub wearing a makeshift speedo made out of gold chains. Jacquees couldn’t find enough gold chains to cover himself so he put on some Supreme shorts. He also couldn’t find a bathtub to fit his entire body, contorting into some Motel 6 contraption while blowing out some smoke.
Needless to say, the touchy base of GOAT-shouters that makes up Pac’s core constituency were not happy about the shoot, and they let him have it on social media.
“Ima need for ppl to stop tryna recreate Tupac bathtub picture lol wtf Jacquees,” was a typical response.
But several people took it a step further, clowning the artist for even attempting to put themselves in the same sentence as Tupac.
“Not really tupac was in a tub while Jacquees chillin in the sink,” wrote one user.
“Tupac was a platinum artist, jacquees still needs a decent mixtape,” said a person who never speaks lies.
Jacquees has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons lately. He was kicked off a flight from his hometown of Atlanta when he failed to stop a cell phone conversation while the plane was attempting to take off.
The pilot turned the plane around and taxied back to the terminal to kick the singer off. And as he was on the way out the door a passenger said “Thanks, assh*le” over the delay. This caused the singer to bow up on the passenger and eventually the pair were separated by a flight attendant.
“What you just say? Man, you gotta watch your mouth,” he said to the other passenger. “What if I slapped you though? You just disrespected me. Look at me in my eyes and tell me what you did that for?”
Jacquees was escorted away from the man and booted from the plane. We all thought it was the most embarrassing thing he would do this summer and we were all wrong.
What do you think? What’s going on with Jacquees right now? Should he have done the photo shoot? Should Tupac fans ease up? Was he opening himself up to clowning by drawing Tupac comparisons this early in his career? Let us know in the comments and be sure to SHARE this article.
