Some of Your Favorite Songs Had a Ghostwriter
Beastie Boys’ “Paul Revere”
Run-D.M.C. for the Beastie Boys
When the Beastie Boys wanted to create the story of how the group came to be, they enlisted the help of Joseph “Run” Simmons and Darryl “D.M.C.” McDaniels of Run-D.M.C. This collab led to the Beastie Boys third album from their debut album License to Ill.
Dr. Dre’s “Still D.R.E”
Jay-Z for Dr. Dre
Dr. Dre has always been pro ghostwriting. Ice Cube wrote hits for him back in the day. Dre was busy doctoring the beat. Dre also knows that when like minded people get together and bounce ideas off each other, history can be made. For example, Dr. Dre and Apple bouncing ideas on how to sell his Beats brand Headphones.
Lil’ Kim’s “Queen B**ch”
Notorious BIG for Lil’ Kim
When Biggie’s reference track dropped for this song it was a little weird hearing Biggie rap from Lil’ Kim’s point of view. But it’s ultimately really cool hearing Lil Kim lyrics come out of Big’s mouth.
