Just in case you ever meet them
Migos truly gives the culture the best of both worlds. The large, blinged-out chains and the quick tempers, as synomous with the classic rapper persona, make up only one side of the group; on the other side, they are intellectual and have a thoughtful outlook on the world around them. Apart of a new wave of hip hop’s ever-changing sound, Migos, frankly, gives their fans life.
Originally named Polo Club, the group renamed themselves Migos after Polo Ralph Lauren went out of style. They released Juug Season, their first mixtape, in 2011 then followed up with their second mixtape No Label in 2012. Their debut single, the song that really put them on the map from the underground world, “Versace” was released in 2015, followed by their first album Yung Rich Nation.
Their second studio album, Culture, came out in January of this year, and because Migos always gives fans exactly what they need, the album went Platinum. The Recording Industry Association of America said so after it sold over one million copies physically and digitally.
Straight out of Lawrenceville, Georgia, the Migos are connected in business and family. Offset and Quavo are cousins; Takeoff is Quavo’s nephew; they all grew up together in the same house. Sometimes, in families with strong genes, it can be hard to tell the members apart. No worries… Hiphopmyway got you.
Starting with the oldest, Quavious Keyate Marshall was born on April 2nd, 1991, making him 26 years old.
If you find yourself surrounded by all three of the Migos at one time, you can check their jewelry to easily tell which one is Quavo. He can almost always be caught wearing a diamond Culture chain and a diamond Yoda chain, among many others.
Quavo’s Face Tats
In case he leaves his chains at home the day you meet Migos, you can also tell Quavo apart by his facial tattoos. The young star has two distinct tattoos, one above each of his eyebrows. Above one eyebrow is “Y.R.N.,” assuringly standing for Young Rich Nation (or Young Rich Ni–as, the name of a Migos mixtape); above the other brow is a black crown.
If his tattoos and chains aren’t good identifiers, no worries. Possibly because he’s the leader of the group or maybe because the camera loves him so much, Quavo talks the most. Standing in front of all three at one time, look for the one who’s about 5′ 10 with should-length braided hair and is answering most of the questions… That’s Quavo.
