Fat Joe let his thoughts be known on the high-profile beef
It’s been long enough since the Remy Ma and Nicki Minaj beef that we can do a real post-mortem. So it makes sense that Power 106 would ask Fat Joe for his feelings on the spat when they interviewed him.
Joe — who recently released an album with Remy — said that he was upset because he didn’t want a beef to distract from their album. “Why we getting into this? We got number one songs,” he said. “Why we getting into the beef? That’s not cool. I beefed with 50 Cent for 7 seven years. I was like ‘Yo, it’s not a go.’”
Given the relationship between Joe and Remy, it’s surprising to learn that Remy didn’t tell Joe that she was planning to take shots at Nicki Minaj. He said he found out about “Shether” the same way that everyone else did after Remy posted it to the internet.
“I woke up in Vegas…I woke up and the whole word was calling me,” he said. “And I’m looking on the phone and this ‘Shether thing is all on the… I was like ‘No!’” “I heard it just like you,” he continued. “And I was like ‘Oh my god!’”
Though Joe wasn’t a fan of starting the beef, he clearly thinks that Remy won the battle between the pair. He called the beef over from the second he heard “Shether.” “Can’t nobody come back from this one,” he said. “This is Connor in the 10th round.”
When a host asks Joe if he was proud of his partner for dismantling Nicki in the track, he dodged it while reiterating that Remy clearly won. “I just didn’t want the rap beef, regardless,” he said. “She did her thing. Nobody could come back from that.”
Nicki responded to Remy on the song “No Frauds,” a move that didn’t impress Remy Ma.
“I wasn’t particularly shocked,” she said of the diss in her own interview with Power 106. “You know what? Nothing shocks me anymore … I’m never like, ‘Oh my god I can’t believe it.’ Nothing really shocks me and nothing really moves me neither. I have to care to be like, ‘Oh my god.’ But if you don’t care, it really doesn’t matter at all. I would guess the only question that probably piqued my mind was like, ‘Why you lying though? Hmm, strange. Alright, moving on.'”
“That’s like if you guys stopped speaking or you guys not hanging with each other and to make me mad, you hang with somebody that you think has a problem with me,” she added. “That doesn’t make me mad. That makes just me say, ‘Good thing that I’m not around you.’ Like, ‘Whew dodged that bullet.’ It doesn’t make you feel any type of way. So if that was supposed to be a shot, kinda missed with that one.”
Nicki continued to address the beef on the 2 Chainz song “Realize.” She claims that Papoose wrote the song for Remy Ma and flaunts her success in a jab at the singer. Minaj noted that she broke Aretha Franklin’s record for most songs on the Hot 100.
“I’ve been winning eight years consistently, at least respect it,” she said. “Papoose wrote a ‘Ether’ record, but I broke Aretha record. See this is chess, not checkers. You can not check the checkers, Did Nas clear that ‘Ether record?”
