Finally, things are settled.
Fat Joe may be having one of the best years ever in 2016. The veteran MC released his smash hit record, “All The Way Up,” which even saw a remix from Jay Z. Joey Crack is not only back on top of the charts and the rap game, but he’s even made peace with a huge part of his past, involving his fallen friend, Big Pun.
Fat Joe has been in a nasty legal battle with Big Pun’s wife.
Fat Joe has been battling in court with Big Pun’s widow, Liza Rios, for over two years. The two have been going head-to-head over the royalties that Pun earned following his death in 2000, which Rios claims was meant to be split between her and Joe. Unfortunately, she went on to file a lawsuit for $1 million after she never received any funds from the rapper after 2005.
The two have finally reached a settlement.
Joe and Rios have stopped their court battle, and have reached a settlement, as to reportedly save from anymore public embarrassment or damage. The rapper, his music publisher and co-defendant John “Jellybean” Benitez of Jelly’s Jams worked together to pitch a deal to Liza, who accepted.
The deal was announced earlier this week.
While outside of a Manhattan Federal Court, Rios’ lawyer told Bossip, “We are pleased with the settlement. We think it was fair, and we’re pleased.” Fat Joe and Jellybean were reportedly not present during the time of the announcement.
