Started from the bottom...
Drake is at it again. Since he came onto the rap scene in 2007 it seems like every year he’s just gotten bigger and bigger. He drops hit after hit and if you listen to the radio for all of 20 minutes, it’s almost a guarantee that one of his songs comes on.
It’s been a long time since he was discovered and brought on the scene, and Lil Wayne himself has to be proud after bringing stars like Drake and Nicki Minaj onto the rap scene. Drake doesn’t seem to be going anywhere soon, and you’ll be shocked at how much he’s actually dominated the music world in the past 7 years.
A man of many talents
In just the last year Drake has been all over the charts. With hits like “Hotline Bling” and “One Dance”. He’s been all you hear over the radio and it’s for good reason.
He’s even got the personality to boot: He’s been in the headlines even when it’s not about how great his music is, like when he got into a heated battle with rapper Meek Mill or when he had a hilarious performance as host of the ESPYS in 2014.
By having so many songs on the Billboard Hot 100 Drake has passed all-time records from artists like Taylor Swift and even The Beatles. That’s a crazy thing to do for someone in the rap and hip-hop genre. He’s even spent a record 400 consecutive weeks with at least one song on the Billboard Hot 100. That’s right, 400 weeks, also known as 7.7 YEARS!
Addint More to His List
Drake recently added another accolade to his book by being named the IFPI Global Recording Artist of the Year. For 2016, Drake was the top artist in all of physical sales, downloads, and streaming. Drizzy beat out artists like David Bowie, Coldplay, Adele, Justin Bieber, Beyonce, Rihanna, and Prince on his way to the top.
