Cavs Vs. Raptors
Seems like Drake ruffled some feathers while attending the Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Toronto Raptors game Tuesday (May 1). According to reports, the rapper, who is a team ambassador for the Raptors, and former Cavaliers player Kendrick Perkins exchanged heated words… twice.
Both Drake and Perkins told their side of the story, but the two tales are quite different.
Videos of Drake and Perkins nose-to-nose surfaced soon after the Cavaliers beat the Raptors by one point, taking a chunk of attention off the teams. “At the end of the first half, as the two teams went to their locker room, Perkins and Drake could be seen exchanging words, with Cavs guard J.R. Smith trying to push Perkins away,” Business Insider reported.
The second altercation came after the end of the game. As the Cavs walked to their locker room, Drake was heard saying “I never said that s**t” to three men.
“He said he never said that, so he ain’t say it,” an Instagram user commented. “Go In drizzy…. Nice for what ?” wrote another.
One fan said, “I just dont understand why K Perk still has a job. He was str8 garbage with OKC. Why they keep hiring him. Oh, and Drake was shook?” “Oh hell no! I hate when people come for Drake,” said another.
The same night as the game, ESPN‘s Adrian Wojnarowski took to Twitter to relay Perkin’s version of events. According to the NBA vet, he was minding his business when Drake interjected.
Wojnarowski tweeted: “In a text message to ESPN, Kendrick Perkins says: ‘What happened was I was talking to my old teammate Serge (Ibaka) walking into halftime telling him ‘We about to win this game,’ and Drake butted in talking shit to me. So I said something back to him.'”
A day or so later, ESPN reported that Drake commented on an Instagram post, writing, “I just said I like the hem on his capris.”
Falling on Beat
Just last week (April 26), the Toronto native shared behind-the-scenes clips from the “Nice For What” music video, showing himself smoothly gliding on skates before hitting the floor. The video, which Drake posted late April, had over five million views within the first few hours of it being posted.
Captioned “Director’s Cut” with a crying emoji, the short clip shows Drake skating in a blue puffer jacket before slipping on what looks like a wet floor. “Nice For What” is heard playing in the background, giving fans a glimpse of the track’s unreleased video footage.
“You need skating lessons from weezy,” a fan joked on Instagram. “I shouldn’t be laughing so hard, but Gooodddd daaaammmmnnn!!” added another.
If the rumors have any truth to them, Champagne Papi isn’t only falling physically but emotionally as well. According to reports, 6 God Drizzy Drake has a girlfriend.
The Sun says the “God’s Plan” rapper caught feelings for English singer Raye — the first person he’s publicaly dated since Jennifer Lopez — after “some late-night studio sessions.” “And the Canadian has been wining and dining her in one of London’s swankiest restaurants,” the outlet alleges.
The Sun‘s source revealed that Raye “is a massive fan of Drake’s work,” which led her to send him some of her music on Twitter. “He was clearly impressed by her songwriting talents and when they met to record, it quickly became obvious it wasn’t just her music he was interested in,” the insider continued.
