They may have more street cred, but at a high price
Rap and hip hop is a genre of music known to be rife with references to crimes, drugs, jail time, and the like, but that doesn’t mean that all of the people who spit those lyrics are actually out there committing violent crimes. However, sometimes they do get caught up in the thug life and wind up behind bars. These rappers know what it’s like to live out their lyrics, and some of them even make more raps about what happened to them after they got out of the clink.
The Hip Hop Cannibal
Big Lurch was making a pretty good name for himself in the 90s and early 2000s, but a devastating car accident led him to getting hooked on PCP because he used it to manage his pain.
In 2002, his roommate Tynisha Ysais was found dead in her apartment with her chest ripped open. Big Lurch had mutilated her and chewed bits of her flesh and organs off of her body. He was found naked, covered in blood staring at the sky. It was later determined that he still had pieces of her flesh in his stomach at the time of his arrest.
He’s serving a life sentence.
Foxy Brown’s Sticky Situation
Foxy Brown is a seriously violent woman; she’s got a massive arrest record of mostly violent crimes. One of her wilder crimes?Pouring weave glue on two manicurists because she didn’t want to pay her $20 bill.
Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s Kicks
ODB got into a ton of trouble during his life, but the most absurd arrest he had stemmed from a time in 1998 when he lifted $50 shoes from Sneaker Stadium store in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Even more bizarre? He had hundreds of dollars in cash on him at the time of the theft.
