Hurricane shelters are supposed to be places where people who couldn’t evacuate an incoming storm find help, but not everyone who takes refuge there is appreciative of what they’ve been given. Two people were filmed getting it on in a crowded room at a Houston shelter, shedding light on the least attractive aspects of shelters. People are pretty mad about what’s going on in shelters now.
Derrick Durrell had to take shelter when Hurricane Harvey hit Houston with incredible force; he never expected to witness a few of his fellow sheltermates hitting each other with incredible force. Spoiler: They weren’t using their fists.
When Derrick and thousands of other people were overwhelmed by the flood waters of Harvey, they fled to the George R. Brown Convention Center. Families, adults, and senior citizens were sleeping on cots in close proximity to each other in an open room. You would think that people would be so devastated that the last thing on their minds would be getting it on in this wide open, crowded space, but one couple had other plans.
Derrick took out his phone and livestreamed a steamy scene on Facebook Live. It appeared as though two people (who turned out to be two men) were having pretty vigorous s*x underneath their Red Cross blankets. Even though they were covered up, it was obvious to anyone walking around what was going on. Derrick and an offended woman near him giggled about the scene, but also toyed with the idea of ripping the sheets off and telling them to get out.
The video went viral, and it’s since opened up a dialogue about people remaining safe while in shelters since so many different kinds of people are admitted. A registered offender could be locked in the building along with dozens of children, for example.

Constable Alan Rosen was tasked with providing security at the NRG Stadium, and he explained about his shelter, “Our shelter actually has the single men going one place, single women going one place, and families going another place. We have had very few issues in NRG. We did have someone that was pleasuring themselves that was asked to leave the shelter.” They also have security in the shower area.
While most people said that the full-on intimate scene was very inappropriate, considering they were in a room with children and people who just didn’t want to see that while they were dealing with the loss of everything they owned, some people thought that what they were doing was some good old-fashioned stress relief. Atlanta rapper B.o.B. was asked about the incident when he was spotted at LAX, and he said that it was just natural, though you should be careful about the kids seeing you. He said, “It just depends on who’s around. As long as there ain’t no young ones around, you’re straight. You can’t criticize sex; that’s how everybody got here. I feel like everybody got their God-given rights. No man can give you a right.”
Do you think that they should have been kicked out immediately, or is it just nature taking course? Let us know what you think about their doings in the comments and SHARE this story!
