Is a woman coming between the Migos?
No other rap group around in having a better 2017 than the Atlanta based trio Migos. This year alone they have scored the #1 spot on Billboard 100 with the quadruple platinum smash hit “Bad and Bougee,” released their certified platinum second studio album titled “Culture” which also debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200, and embarked on a nationwide tour with the same title at the album.
Clearly, Migos is definitely the definition of a group that is on on fire! Despite the little bumps in the road they faced this year, these guys don’t seem to have much to complain about.
Actually, I don’t even know if I’d call them bumps when you factor in the success they’ve been sharing…
Ready for a Fight
One of these little bumps came in the form of an interview that was conducted at the BET awards by Joe Budden, DJ Akademiks, and Nadeska Alexis on their Everyday Struggle show. During the interview, Takeoff, who is probably the least visible of the group (but my personal favorite), was asked how he felt about being left off the hit song “Bad and Bougee.”
After replying incoherently multiple times, a mic was dropped, people stormed off the set, and the Migos stood up rolling up their sleeves like they were ready for action and blah blah blah ― we all know the story by now.
Another one of these bumps came in the form of a fight outside of a NYC hotel where group members Quavo and Offset would attempt to beat on some big WWE looking character to no avail. The huge guy ― who goes by the name Kane Kong ― would later to go on say it was nothing but a minor quarrel between brothers that should’ve never even been taped, let alone leaked to the public.
The Main Factor
“N-ggas keep tagging me in this Migos situation bruh. The sh-t wasn’t even supposed to be recorded so that’s that. Me and them brothers; brothers fight. It was a misunderstanding. We went to the club right after that bruh. We went to a show the next day. We laughed about that sh-t. We joked about that sh-t. Me and Quavo was joking about that sh-t. It was nothing bruh. N-ggas making a big deal out of nothing bruh.”
These situations look minuscule when you look at the year these guys are having. From songs with pop icon Katy Perry, to traveling the world making millions of dollars, it seems like nothing can go wrong… right?
Until you factor in… love!
In late October, Offset was performing with his group at the Power 99 Powerhouse concert in Philly when he stopped to get down on one knee to propose to his longtime girlfriend, rapper and reality TV Star Cardi B.
News of the engagement blew up all over the internet. There has been reports of networks such as B.E.T. and VH1 offering up to a million dollars to broadcast the wedding and the ring was reported to have cost about $550k.
With Offset being the only engaged member of the group, there seems to be a bit of trouble stirring. During a recent interview in San Antonio, the Migos rapper cut a interview short only about a minute and a half into the interview. Ironically as soon as the interviewer asked a question about Offset’s engagement to Cardi B is when the interview was cut short. Quavo is heard saying “he turned it in,” meaning his player card.
I’m not one for the conspiracy theories, but it does seem like something is brewing… I could just be bugging, but that interview was weird AF.
Do they not want Offset’s engagement to take attention away from the group? Is there a hint of jealousy in the air? Who knows but I personally say let the love shit wait and keep getting to the money for now…
