Team Breezy can rest easy knowing Chris was only joking with a valet parking attendant when he threatened to “knock [him] out.” According to TMZ, the singer “went off” during an interaction at the valet stand outside of TAO Los Angeles. However, the videos paint a different picture.
Though several cameras caught Chris coming out of the club and talking to the attendant, no reports of the full story have surfaced.
Leaving the Spot
What’s clear is that Chris and his group were leaving their hang out spot Thursday night (April 5), finding a seemingly unexpected service charge added to their valet bill.
A video of the interaction starts off showing Chris paying his valet tab, while speaking in low tone to the attendant. “Man you did me dirty,” Chris says in the short clip. “Trying to r**e me right now. I should knock you out, but I’m not.” As the camera moves around the gang of people surrounding the artist, viewers can see Chris counting dollars in front of the attendant.
“Next time I see you, hook me, on God,” Chris says to the employee after getting his change. “I’ll knock you out, I don’t give a f**k,” Chris adds as the attendant pats him on the shoulder. Smiling, both men walk away peacefully afterwards.
When fans realized that TMZ‘s headline and the videos the gossip site offered didn’t exactly match, they shamed the outlet on social media for being misleading. However, this isn’t the first time Chris Brown fans have taken issue with the way TMZ portrayed the Virginia native.
“TMZ was created to destroy Chris Brown I swear,” a Twitter user tweeted after the last time TMZ reported on Chris. After the “Privacy” singer was spotted with his hands around a women’s throat, photos of the moment were sent to TMZ, throwing the star’s name in several unflattering headlines.
The pictures were taken in the midst a party, thrown and hosted by Breezy, during the Ultra Festival. “In a few photos … Chris has his right hand around a woman’s throat. Although the woman looks like she’s in distress in a few pics, she and Chris insist it’s horseplay,” reported TMZ. “In other photos you see the woman smiling as Chris touches her neck.”
Mark Geragos, Chris’ lawyer, told the outlet that the women is a “friend” and the interaction is “obviously playful.” “Whoever invaded their privacy will be held accountable,” he added.
The star himself didn’t come forward with a comment, but Team Breezy had his back, stepping in to denounce any theories of wrong doing. As far as fans were concerned, TMZ was and is in the wrong. After Chris and the unnamed female vehemently insisted that the pictures are misleading and that they were simply playing around, the outlet pushed the story anyway, leaving a bad taste in mouths.
“As soon as chris brown announced that hes going on tour TMZ tryna start some s**t,” a fan posted on Twitter.
“Journalism in 2018.”
“TMZ publishes photos of Chris Brown with his hands around a woman’s neck, knowing that he and the woman in the photo are joking, (they confirmed this with the woman too),” wrote a Twitter user. “They know it’ll provoke a response against Chris Brown. Welcome to journalism in 2018.”
