Charli has got to start taking it easy
It seems like Charli Baltimore has some serious medical issues that she needs to figure out. The 43-year-old rapper got into multiple car crashes within a year, and now her body is fighting her. She’s been in the hospital for almost a month trying to get everything right, but she’s still unsure when she can walk normally again. While all of these medical issues were totally unforeseen, she’s just happy that she’s got tight friends and family around her to help her through it.
Charli B’s Big Wreck
You may remember Philadelphia-born rap queen Charli Baltimore best as the girlfriend of Notorious B.I.G. In December 2016, the once-big rap star was driving back home from her niece’s birthday party when she inexplicably passed out at the wheel and crashed her car. She wrote about the accident on Instagram:
“From my niece’s birthday party to Hahnemann Hospital… mild concussion, banged up eye, and cuts and bruises! Holidays can be a stressful time. Be sure to have your blood sugar checked especially if you’re diabetic (which I’m not), but I passed out behind the wheel, blood sugar dropped… and woke up in wreckage?”
Luckily, she avoided serious injury that time, but things got worse on August 4 when she somehow crashed again. We don’t know what happened, but she posted a picture of her leg in a cast. “Five broken bones in my ankle. My ankle was actually turned backwards, they had to pop it back in place! Talk about pain. 10 days of bed rest till the swelling subsides then surgery requiring a metal rod! Just getting outta the hospital,” the rapper wrote.
She didn’t get out that fast.
On August 18, Charli posted another picture of her banged up leg, saying, “Been in surgery all day… finally done. Two metal plates, a rod and numerous screws.” The next day, she wrote to her worried fans, “My surgeon got jokes… I told him I have a shoe addiction pre surgery, and since it’ll likely be close to a year before I’m fully able to walk properly… he said he gave me a red bottom cast.”
Things declined quickly for Charli, though. She only got out of the hospital on October 8. She posted a photo of an IV drip that she’s hooked to right now.
The star explained:
“My current situation… having to have IV antibiotics at home thru a special IV in my arm that connects into my chest and nurses coming to my house every day after just spending 22 days in the hospital… undergoing four additional surgeries back to back and a blood transfusion after getting a super rare bone infection, that according to statistics only 2 out of 10,000 people that have had surgery on a broken bone contract.”
When Charli broke her ankle, she got a life-threatening infection in the bone. “The infection actually ate thru my incisions down to the bone till it was visible!!! Straight out of a horror movie!!! My post is not for sympathy but only to say I could have lost my leg or possibly my life,” she said of her condition.
This hasn’t been Charli’s year health-wise, but we’re very happy that she’s finally at home healing up from this terrible infection. Send you well wishes to Charli in the comments and SHARE this story of how quickly your health can change.
