It gets real!
You know that when it comes to Ridiculousness, people are going to put it all on the table. That’s exactly what Charlamagne Tha God and Chanel West Coast did when things got a bit out of hand and offhanded comments turned into a full out dramatic brawl.
Even though it started out pretty light, it came to blows below the belt, and we’re all wondering how bad the blood is now. Luckily, the two have spoken out about it.
Keeping it Real
It’s no secret that Charlamagne’s philosophy is keeping it real. You don’t get ahead in the rap game by not telling it like it is. Sometimes, though, you happen to get a little too real on live TV.
Charlamagne opened up about his truths on Ridiculousness.
He said, “I don’t believe in, like, moving off emotion. I believe in moving off strategy, and, like, my only strategy is just to tell the truth. It’s like, whatever I said about you, I’m going to say to you, and I’m going to continue saying it to you regardless.”
Well, apparently that struck a nerve with co-star Chanel West Coast.
Luckily (or unluckily?) for Charlamagne, Chanel is also pretty good at saying what’s on her mind. She clapped back immediately with, “But just because you say something doesn’t make it the truth.” It was pretty clear there was something on her mind.
Charlemagne played it cool, saying, “That’s true. It’s just my opinion.” He then added, “She’s just saying that ’cause I told her she was whack rapping one time.”
The audience burst out laughing, but things seemed to tense up between Charlemagne and Chanel.
“I’m just saying, you can have opinions and it doesn’t mean they’re right, though,” Chanel said. “Lil’ Wayne, who is the same person who co-signed Drake and Nicki Minaj, is the same person who co-signed me. I’ve won a BET with Young Money, I’ve got songs with French Montana, Ty Dolla Sign, Snoop Dogg… after getting into a verbal argument with him because he respected me so much after I spoke my mind to him he still came back and did a song with me.”
She added, “He doesn’t know my musical track record, so get familiar.”
Charlamagne shut her down with, “Let the record show people always like to say Wayne found Nicki and Drake, but they always leave out Lil Twist and Tyga.”
