She knows how to keep her man
Career-wise, R&B star Cassie owes a lot to her on-again, off-again boyfriend Diddy. He took her under his wing to turn her into a big star in music, even giving her a spot in Bad Boy Records. Her fate would take her to different places though.
She caught a role in Step Up 2: The Streets in 2008. She then spent the next few years working on some music, modeling, and just doing more in general, but it looked like she was just happy to sit back and let Diddy do all the work.
So, we’re wondering why there isn’t a ring on it after all these years.
A Long Romance
One year ago, it was reported that Diddy and Cassie had a huge blowup in Beverly Hills. Diddy may have even taken Cassie’s phone to see what she was really up to before making her go home without him.
Insiders said that the police were called out to the house to discuss what happened, but no record of that has been found. In fact, he threw a huge birthday party for the 30-year-old stunner days later.
After five years officially together and many years of low-key dating, everyone is asking when Diddy is going to put a ring on it. She stopped by Ebro in the Morning to discuss all the rumors.
Just a Girlfriend
Show host Ebro Darden asked her, “You’ve kind of been just kind of been Diddy’s girlfriend for the last several years which is amazing; I’m sure that’s an amazing life also. But I think a lot of people forget you’re a songwriter yourself and have a lot of music to offer.”
Cassie responded, “It was difficult to navigate it for a little while just because people at this point don’t automatically associate me with music anymore. I do have a core group of fans that are just ride or die.”
“You and Puff have had this amazing relationship that’s withstood all of the rumors and all the negative energy. Everyone wants to put their own terms of a relationship on other people. ‘When is he gonna marry you? When is this gonna happen?’” Ebro said. Cassie interjected, “You know what’s cool about Puff is that he does want to understand marriage. But we have a certain type of relationship, and it just works the way it is.”

“Do you believe marriage is for everybody?” Ebro questioned. Eloquently, Cassie responded, “No, not at all. I believe in marriage with the right situation. I’ve seen a lot of people get married and break up in the [time] that I’ve been in my relationship. I feel like you can’t really put a tag on it. Everybody looks at marriage as something solid and important, but we have a solid relationship. It’s the idea of marriage that I think people fall in love with, but sometimes people are really meant to be married.”
She continued, “My lifestyle is so different than everyone else’s that I don’t know if marriage would be conducive to me sitting here with you right now, and having my own stuff. Everyone has a different wave. The record Love a Loser, the hook is ‘I’d rather lose a lover than love a loser.’ You don’t want to end up with some random stuff and be lying to yourself.”
Who can combat that type of sound logic?
Cassie is working on a short film based on “a love story between a dysfunctional couple which I’m sure we’re all familiar with.” It’s based on music she wrote for Love a Loser. So, keep your eyes peeled for that.
We’re sure that Cassie and Diddy are in it for the long haul regardless of a ring. Are you happy to see Cassie working on her own thing? Let us know what you think about her music in the comments and SHARE this story!
