Here we go... again
Just when you thought the dust surrounding Cardi B and Offset’s very public cheating scandal had finally settled, her latest interview drags it back to the forefront. While chatting with the team at Cosmopolitan, Cardi — hopefully for the last time — explains her decision to stay with her fiancé after he allegedly cheated on her.
“This is my life … I’m going to take my time, and I’m going to decide on my decision,” the “Bartier Cardi” rapper said matter-of-factly. “It’s not right, what he f–king did — but people don’t know what I did, ’cause I ain’t no angel.”
Rumors of Offset’s cheating started late 2017, hitting the internet like a wild fire. Video after grainy video flooded social media feeds. The rumors, which were impossible to avoid, painted the newly engaged couple in bad light. The duo went from being #RelationshipGoals to… something else entirely.
Needless to say, fans of hip-hop’s latest favorite were distracted.
“I really hate when s–t like this happens because it takes away from my work. It takes away from my plans,” Cardi said at the time. “The focus is not on my s–t,” she added, referencing her then-newly-released single, “Bartier Cardi.” “The gossip always over-beats.”
In true ride-or-die fashion, Cardi stuck by her man. The New York native focused on the issue of the videos being leaked from his iCloud rather than the content of the videos. Alongside leaking incriminating videos against Offset, the rapper’s hacker dropped a private video that Cardi sent to him. She told fans that though she didn’t mind being unclothed on the internet, citing her years of stripping, the invasion of privacy is inexcusable.
After reports of her lawyering up to find the person responsible hit the headlines, the videos magically stopped.
Still, Bardi Gang was relentlessly unforgiving. Because she refused to leave the Migos rapper, Cardi found herself constantly defending her decision to work it out with her future husband.
Hopefully for the last time, the artist defended her choice to stay with Offset, shedding even more light on why she didn’t leave. Proving that the grass grows where you water it, Cardi told Cosmo she genuinely wanted “to work out my s–t with my man,” before saying, “I don’t got to explain why.”
“It’s like everybody is coming down my neck like, ‘Why are you not leaving him? You have low self-esteem.’ I don’t have low self-esteem … I know I look good. I know I’m rich, I know I’m talented. I know I could get any man I want — any basketball player, football player,” she went on.
Her refusal to be pressured into leaving Offset or making a decision she wasn’t fully on board with is consistent with her reputation to be unapologetically herself at all times. The “Lick” rapper also shared why she refuses to change for others during her interview, saying, “Everybody gets bothered about everything.”
“Everybody got different beliefs and different religions and were raised differently, yet you also supposed to be careful you don’t offend somebody,” she stated. “Everybody got a fucking opinion about you. If I change myself, then I’m going to lose myself, and I won’t be who makes me happy.”
Cardi is featured on Cosmopolitan‘s April cover, so be sure to keep a look out for it. For now, tell us your thoughts in the comments and SHARE this article.
