We hope Cardi is okay!
Cardi B is just 24-years-old, but she’s been working hard for the past five years to get to where she is today. She’s not going to let anyone take her hard-earned fame and fortune from her, and she surely won’t let them put a dent in her dignity either. Cardi claimed that something highly inappropriate happened to her, and it’s making headlines already.
Cardi was riding high on the wave of her song “Bodak Yellow,” which is poised to become one of the most famous songs by a solo back female hip hop artist ever. If it hits Number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, it would be the first time for someone in her category to reach that slot since 1998 when Lauryn Hill released “Doo Wop (That Thing).” Missy Elliott, Lil Kim, or even Nicki Minaj has gotten that far; “Anaconda” only got to Number 2.
She’s also the most popular star on Love & Hip Hop New York, and she’s only been a cast member for the past two years.
Despite her unexpected rise to fame, not everyone knows Cardi B, and it lead to some recent tension between her and a cop. It seems as if Cardi got into a scrap with a cop recently because she tweeted, “I can’t believe this cop put me on a choke hold just now s**t is crazy these NY cops don’t know how to do they job F**K 12.” She confirmed that the cop was white when asked about his race.
Her tweets gained a ton of traction very quickly, but Cardi inexplicably deleted everything she said about the incident. We don’t know why she was approached by police initially or what led to her getting possibly assaulted. We also don’t have any other information about the incident because the police don’t even know what’s going on.
A spokesperson for the NYPD told Mirror Online what they know, which isn’t much. They said, “The NYPD was made aware of a Tweet made by rapper Cardi B, which was since deleted, and indicated an alleged interaction between the NYPD and her. The NYPD has no record or any other information to support the validity of this claim.”
What to do?
Of course, the NYPD may know something about the incident involving the young rapper and a member of the force but cannot comment about it yet. Hopefully, Cardi will have an update on what happened and why she decided to delete her tweets about it soon.
This may further delay the release of Cardi’s upcoming album on Atlantic Records. She previously said in an interview, “I wanted to drop next month. Every single time I think I got all the 10 songs I’m like, ‘I’m buggin. These ain’t it. It’s just like, damn I’m competing with myself. I’m competing with the god**n No. 2 record [on the Billboard Hot 100] and stuff.’”
Hopefully Cardi will get over this chokehold incident and her need to make things perfect so that she can move on with her career. What do you think about Cardi’s interaction with the cops? Let us know what you think happened between them in the comments and SHARE this story!
