Cardi B has been quiet lately. Fans who follow the star on Twitter know this more than anyone else, as Cardi stopped regularly posting on the app. Ending her hiatus, she posted a string of tweets explaining herself.
“Reason why i took a break from twitter is cause people are so negative and disgusting here,” she wrote.”I had to log off.”
Before shouting out “BARDIGANG,” calling her fan base “real ones,” she vowed to never let a hater get her down.
“To [sic] much negativity is not good for the soul. It be people that don’t f**k with me to be the first ones under my tweets LIKE WHO SEND YOU?” she continued. The “Bartier Cardi” rapper went on to say that though several people are “praying” for her to fail, she won’t allow herself to grant their wish.
“THEY GOING TO FEEL ME FIRST!!!” she added. “….KNOCK ME DOWN 9 times but i get up 10!!!”
The artist spoke more about her relationship with internet trolls during an interview with Cosmo. Highlighting her time as a stripper and life as a new celebrity, Cardi acknowledged that the internet as a whole can be harmful and helpful.
“When people say mean things about me, yeah it hurts me, because I’m not used to that,” Cardi told the publication. “Sometimes, I’m feeling like I get a lot of hate, then when I see people getting my name and my face tatted, it reminds me that I’m also extremely loved.'”
“People clearly treat me better now because I’m famous and they want to suck d**k, but … at the end of the day people still talk s**t on me online,” she continued. “When I was a stripper, people used to talk s**t about me, used to call me a stripper—now, to this day, they call me a stripper, so it’s like, whatever. I don’t give a f**k … I can’t even do anything about it.”
Surely fame is helping Cardi develop thicker skin, but she’s still a “regular degular shmegular” girl from the Bronx. The always-herself-and-never-anything-else rapper recently won iHeartRadio’s Best New Artist award, giving everyone a good dose of her personality, laughing and joking as she gave her acceptance speech.
The “Bartier Cardi” rapper thanked her publicist, her team, her family, her fiancé Offset and Atlantic Records. “I want to thank my fans, Bardi Gang,” she continued. “Cause even when I’m wrong they be like, ‘She still right.’” Last but certainly not least, the rapstress thanked her “haters.”
“And I want to thank my haters too,” she said, pausing to laugh. “Because they be downloading my stuff so they can hear it and talk crap about it, but it benefits me!”
