Cardi B never wants her fans to think she ditched them, which is probably why she made sure to set the record straight after her Edmonton, Alberta performance was canceled. The venue failed to acknowledge that they made an error, blaming the show’s cancelation on Cardi’s “personal reasons.”
According to the rapper herself, the only reason the show was canceled is because the venue got “jinked.”
West Canada’s Shaw Conference Centre recently announced that fans would not get to see Cardi live next month. “Fans — We regret to inform you that due to circumstances out of our control, we must announce the cancellation of the Cardi B show which was scheduled for April 6th, 2018,” the announcement read in part.
The news left a ton of ticket-buyers very disappointed with the star. However, Cardi refused to take the blame for a mistake that wasn’t hers. She revealed the real story, making the venue look really bad to some fans.
“Who ever is doing this event STOP MAKING UP FAKE THINGS up on why I’m not performing in this show,” the rapper snapped on social media. “You gave money to somebody who perpetrated to be somebody that I know that don’t even work for me. Its very unfortunate and sad but ya got jinked.”
She went on to reveal that the matter was being looking into, with an investigation started to find the person responsible. “However don’t say I’m NOT performing for personal reasons,” Cardi concluded.
As the Bronx rapper has said before, “If you don’t get paid, you don’t go to work, right?” This is reportedly the second time the 25-year-old has had an issue getting her payments. The first occurrence ended with the star performing two songs pro bono for the fans.
Late last year (2017), a New Orleans party promotor found out exactly what happens if you book Cardi and don’t pay her. The former Love & Hip Hop: New York star boarded New Orleans’ Studio 223’s stage to give her love to her fans and to expose the person responsible for not paying her.
“If you don’t get paid, you don’t go to work, right?” the star began in a fan-shot video. “Let me tell you something. I paid my DJ, I paid my hair stylist, I paid my makeup artist, I paid for this outfit, and I paid my dancers, and I paid my DJ. So, if the promotor don’t wanna f**king pay me, then b**ch you think I’m going to come inside? No.”
The crowd screamed in agreement as she vented about the promotor, known as Stank. “I really appreciate that y’all came out, but ion like when n***as try to play me,” she said. “I’m about my bread. […] And this club is packed, so I don’t wanna hear that n***s didn’t get there f**king money.”
After minutes of chewing the promotor out, Cardi told her fans that they didn’t leave their house in vain. “Now, the reason I came in is cause I love my fans. So, out of courtesy of me, I’m gonna perform two songs, ’cause I really love y’all,” the star said, showing how a real boss handles hurdles.
Clearly Shaw Conference Centre didn’t learn from Stank’s mistake. Though Cardi deleted the feisty Instagram post, she surely got her point across. It was liked by nearly 10 thousand of her followers within the short time it was up.
